Tyrosine kinases are a hot topic recently as many drugs have been created to target them. On e famous and promising drug is Imatinib, which is a drug that can bind a mutated form of tyrosine kinase, often seen in certain leukemias, and inhibit its activity. This occurs as Imatinib binds the catalytic cleft within the kinase and blocks further activation.
Tyrosine Kinases are enzymes that catalyze the transfer of phosphate groups from ATP to the tyrosine residues within proteins.
